Duty Engineer (HVAC, Maintenance)- 999264
Position troubleshoots, diagnoses, repairs and performs maintenance on HVAC and boiler equipment. Perform regular building rounds, adjusting BAS, inspecting and performing preventative maintenance. Scheduled shifts will be five evenings with some mandatory, as well as voluntary overtime. The successful finalist will have a valid drivers license and meet the insurability requirements to drive on behalf of the University. Additionally, a pre-employment drug screen is also required.
Communicating problems to lead person, manager and relief personnel as well as creating a work order when needed.
Answer Monitor, troubleshoot, diagnose and repair HVAC and boiler equipment, and address urgent maintenance calls, remedying the issues you can and/or communicating the need for additional attention when needed.
Perform regular building rounds, adjusting BAS, inspecting, and performing preventative maintenance.
Seasonally change HVAC equipment from heating to cooling. Start and stop machinery; and preform LOTO.
Schedule repairs and preventative maintenance to avoid unintentional interruption of equipment.
Provide excellent customer service and follow all safety, department, and university policies.
Carry out oral and written instructions and perform other duties as assigned.
Position requires a neat appearance and adherence to work uniform and prompt and regular attendance.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Third Class Engineers License preferred, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Position upgrades to Duty Engineer when this is obtained.
Knowledge of HVAC and boiler equipment, previous experience preferred.
Mechanical skills and aptitude required.
Ability to work with little to no supervision.
Ability to read, write, and communicate using English; including reading building blue prints, electrical and mechanical equipment schematics required.
General knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC equipment, boilers, electrical and control wiring, diagnostics and repair required.
Experience with power tools, torches, welders, diagnostic equipment and hand tools, including safety protocols preferred.
Valid Iowa Driver's license required, approved by Drake insurance to Drive University owned vehicles.
