MidAmerican Energy Company Compensation Analyst/Sr Compensation Analyst in Des Moines, Iowa

This is multi-level posting. Candidates may be considered for any of the posted levels, depending on their level of experience and depth of expertise. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function) The compensation analyst/sr compensation analyst assists in the management of Berkshire Hathaway Energy companies' compensation programs, annual incentives, and other recognition programs. This role oversees the compensation administration for multiple company platforms, compiles compensation reports, manages the job description database and necessary updates, manages the annual salary survey submissions for Berkshire Hathaway Energy affiliate companies, reviews salary recommendations and conducts job reviews and group reorganizations. Typical Duties Assist managers and business unit human resources managers on job evaluations including researching market data to determine a recommendation for job grade and FLSA classification for positions. Supports other compensation projects and ad hoc report requests. (25%) Supports the annual compensation review including system preparation, merit and incentive budget allocations and the development and delivery of compensation committee materials. (20%) Manages various compensation systems used for the administration of survey/job pricing, annual compensation review and ongoing compensation administration. Works closely with HRIS and information technology on data loads, system enhancements and testing. (15%) Coordinates BHE’s participation in annual and ad hoc salary surveys. Evaluates survey results and makes recommendations that impact BHE’s compensation programs and strategy. (15%) Supports the administration of the nonqualified plans including the long-term incentive plans, deferred compensation plans, supplemental executive retirement plans and executive life insurance. (10%) Supports ongoing and periodic HR and compensation reporting. (10%) Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (5%) Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, human resource management, related field or equivalent related work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.) One to three years of compensation experience or three or more years of related human resources experience is required for the compensation analyst leve. Five years of experience in compensation, finance, systems or a related field required for the sr compensation analyst level. Experience using human resource information systems for data extraction and reporting. High proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to extract, organize and present information from human resources information systems. High attention to detail and a strong customer focus. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
