Dart Communications Intern in Des Moines, Iowa
The Communications intern will support initiatives in the Marketing & Communications Department. The position will report to the Communications Specialist but will also perform work under the direction of the Graphic Designer and Senior Marketing Specialist. This position will work part-time throughout the Spring 2021 semester, with options for extending the internship on a full or part-time basis in Summer 2021.
Film and edit short videos to be used by DART’s Marketing and Communications team for external promotion or internal instruction.
Compile a file of B-roll footage for DART's use.
Assist with creating basic design projects, including but not limited to, fliers, posters and other signage, business cards for staff, and graphics for social media.
Write and deploy content for print and digital materials, including social media, email newsletter, web, and brochures.
Assist with internal communication projects on as needed basis, including creating fliers and digital signage to promote news, events, policies, and procedures.
Maintain and update the DART website with written content.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED
Working towards (or completion of) an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in communications/journalism, marketing, or business from an accredited university or college.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
Des Moines and the surrounding areas (streets, landmarks and related geography).
Working knowledge of personal computers and current Microsoft office products (excel, word and power point).
Competent in video editing using Adobe Premiere software.
Competent in basic graphic design using Adobe Illustrator or InDesign
Skill or Ability to:

Comfortably work independently capturing video footage.
Effectively execute tasks in a high-pressure environment with constant interruptions.
