What to expect from your internship?
We’re committed to providing you a great experience. This past summer, we held our first ever virtual based internship program – and had great success. We’re continuing to create plans to provide you the best experience and will share updates regarding the location throughout the interview process.
Internship location will be either onsite in Des Moines, IA or virtually from your location selection.
Our IT internship program offers opportunities for 95+ IT interns and has a strong reputation with over 20 years of history. You’ll work on real projects with a range of technology and business team members, including other interns through senior level management. We'll place you in a role customized to your expertise and interests, all while working in a collaborative Agile team environment. This is an excellent opportunity to understand and learn more about Principal’s IT Engineering culture!

Join our highly collaborative COBOL scrum teams to design and implement solutions used by our clients and business partners. In this position, you will gain experience collaborating with other team members to create and drive strategy/architecture for our applications and services within a mainframe environment. You can expect to gain hands on experience with COBOL, JCL, SQL, batch processing and more!
Current enrollment or has a degree in an accredited program of study
Minimum 2.8 Cumulative GPA
Involvement in your community

Strong work ethic
A passion for technology which includes:
Ability to think critically and solution for technology-based problems
Current enrollment or has a degree in an accredited program of study related to IT, engineering, or other correlated areas (ex: computer science, MIS, engineering, etc.)
Programming experience in COBOL, JCL, etc.
Leadership positions within student, work or community organizations
Past IT internship or work experience
