Des Moines Public Schools is seeking aChief Information Officer.Job Summary:The Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Des Moines Public Schools plays a pivotal role in shaping the district’s technological landscape. As a key member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet, the CIO provides strategic leadership, fosters collaboration, and ensures the effective utilization of information technology (IT) resources. The CIO’s responsibilities span a wide range of areas, from innovation and efficiency to cybersecurity and policy development. The CIO’s role extends beyond technical expertise; it encompasses leadership, vision, and a commitment to advancing education through technology. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the district.Successful candidates for this position will possess:1. A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.2. Significant experience in IT leadership, preferably in an educational setting.3. Experience in implementing educational technology solutions that support teaching, learning, and student engagement.Highly Qualified candidates for this position will possess:1. Master's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.2. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)3. Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM)4. Position Details260 days8.00 hoursSalary Range for this position:$151,611 - $204,630This represents the minimum to mid-point of the salary range. Candidates offered employment will be compensated based on skills, work experience and education. Benefits

  • Tax Sheltered Annuity (TSA): the contribution is14% of the base salary.

  • An example of $90,000 salary @14% TSA= $12,600 in district contribution to TSA

  • Enrollment in IPERS (Iowa Public Employee Retirement System)--a defined benefit plan

  • IPERS - district contributes 9.44% and the employee contributes 6.29%

  • Family Health Insuranceatno costto the employee during the first plan year of employment(July1 - June 30) ($600/year after that)

  • There is opportunity to have the $600/year waived via participation HealthyU program.
