UnityPoint Health Accreditation Specialist-Quality Improvement in Des Moines, Iowa

Serves as a resource on issues related to accreditation. Works with service line directors to identify issues and monitor compliance with regulatory standards for the achievement of accreditation at UPHDM. Coordinates the training and auditing process for ISO auditors. Coordinates and tracks corrective action plans related to regulatory surveys.

Survey Coordination (DNV, IDIA, other agencies as requested)

  • Escorts surveyors and provides documents as needed

  • Assures all findings are assigned to a responsible party

  • Compiles all action plans from the responsible parties and submits plan by due date

  • Tracks and communicates progress in meeting the action plan

Survey Readiness Coordination

  • Monitors changes in regulatory standards

  • Provides education to staff and leadership regarding changes/clarifications in standards or interpretive guidelines

  • Performs audits as appropriate to assure compliance with standards or changes in standards

  • Acts as a resource to committees/workgroups regarding required regulations

ISO Audit Coordination

  • Trains internal ISO auditors

  • Maintains a master list of ISO audits done annually

  • Tracks action plans associated with ISO audits

  • Assures results of all ISO audits are presented/discussed with the Management Review Committee

Minimum Requirements

Preferred or Specialized

Education:

Associates degree or equivalent experience in related field

  • Bachelors degree

  • Lead ISO Auditor training

Experience:

2 years work experience

  • Work experience in healthcare accreditation or compliance

  • Experience applying ISO standards

License(s)/Certification(s):

Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English

  • Effective communication skills both oral and written

  • Basic computer knowledge using Word, spreadsheets, email and web browser

  • Must possess time management and organizational skills

Other:

Work may require travel to other UPHDM facilities using own vehicle.

Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
