Genesis Health System Reimbursement Analyst in Davenport, Iowa

Position Title: Analyst, Reimbursement

Department: Financial Services-Admin

Purpose: Under the direction of the Reimbursement department this position is responsible to provide assurance that reimbursement through third party cost reporting is in compliance for with the appropriate regulations for Genesis Health System and it's affiliates. Under that direction this position will develop responsibilities which include a basic knowledge of Medicare cost report compilation. Other responsibilities include calculation of the monthly contractual, bad debt, Blue Cross UPP journal entries, and payer mix and case mix calculations. This position will assist with ad-hoc requests and data collection and maintain communication and support to Reimbursement and Finance management.

Report To: Manager, Reimbursement

Supervisory Responsibility: Direction: The job requires some accountability for scheduling, assigning or coordinating work. Employees check the quality of work and provide guidance, instruction, training and direction to others. Although the job does not require formal or official supervisory responsibility, the incumbent serves as group leader or acts in an informal "assistant supervisory" or "lead" role. In addition, the employee may be expected to provide information or suggestions on human resources matters.

Materials Responsibility: Moderate: Work requires moderate responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include operating budgets for a work unit or department, specialized equipment, costly or unusual materials or supplies, large amounts of cash or other material assets. The employee has a moderate amount of control over these resources. The cost of errors might result in moderate damage, waste or financial loss. The difficulty, variety and depth of problems associated with these material resources is moderately complex.

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Field Of Study: Accounting, Finance, or related field

Special Training: Familiarity with Third Party Reimbursement, spreadsheet applications.

Training Preferred: CPA, MBA

Licensure/Registration: N/A

Experience: No experience required.

Interpersonal Skills: Interaction is with a variety of people inside or outside the organization. Communications are often difficult or stressful in nature. Contact with others involves complex, detailed and often sensitive topics. The job requires a high degree of interpersonal skills to deal with a range of complicated problem situations. Interactions involve gaining the agreement of others.

Working Conditions: There is very limited exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Some undesirable or unpleasant environmental characteristics may occur but the physical environment is generally safe and there is minimal health risk. No safety equipment or unusual precautions are required. The amount of time the employee may experience these minor adverse conditions would be limited to 10% or less of the work day.
