Cobham Mission EHS Engineer in Davenport, Iowa
Cobham Mission Systems in Davenport, Iowa is seeking an EHS Engineer to work with the Safety, Health and Environmental Director to ensure our site’s compliance with environmental regulations and drive sustainability.
Oversee the ISO 14001 environmental management system program and continuous improvement of the system.
Develop strategic and tactical environmental/sustainability plan, including preparation of environmental objectives targets, and metrics.
Provide technical oversite to assure compliance with local, state and federal environmental regulations including: RCRA, SWPPP, SPCC, CAA, CWA, etc.
Ensure all compliance reports are submitted accurately and on time. Examples include: monthly waste water, annual Tier 2, biennial hazardous waste, minor source emission inventory, TRI, etc.
Serve as liaison with applicable external regulatory agencies during environmental compliance audits and follow-up on audits to ensure satisfactory compliance.
Develop and manage compliance trainings and site-wide communications to address near misses, incidents, and to promote employee engagement.
Conduct incident investigations related to spills, employee chemical exposure incidents, waste disposal issues, and illnesses, etc. and ensure necessary corrective actions.
Provide technical- level environmental support and guidance for new projects, facilities changes, and process changes.
Motivate and drive culture change/ awareness.
Follow all prescribed safety and environmental principles.
Provide support and assistance to the SHE Department.
Help direct and facilitate active employee SHE team.
All other related duties as assigned.
Do you have detailed knowledge of EPA and experience in specific environmental programs
(For example, TIER II, TRI (EPCRA), NESHAP, NSR, (Clean Air Act), Storm Water, Industrial Wastewater (Clean Water Act), RCRA, CERCLA, SPCC etc.)
Experience with Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001 or equivalent)
Knowledge of manufacturing practices and processes and the specific relationship to environmental risk
Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and basic computer applications
Ability to work in an office, indoor, and outdoor industrial environment?
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
Ability to climb stairs to complete job responsibilities
Ability to Occasionally Travel
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or other EHS related field preferred; other four-year degrees will be considered
3+ years related work experience in a manufacturing environment.
CSP or CHMM certification.
Experience conducting group training.
Strong people skills and willing to work with employees in different functional areas.
Strong problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to develop multiple solutions to an issue and make valid recommendations for resolution.
Ability to listen effectively and express ideas clearly to exchange information in a team environment.
Good organizational skills to independently prioritize daily activities to meet department objectives.
Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to make independent judgments on technical issues.
Ability to lead the work of subcontractor staff.
Skilled at detailed tasks.
