Lee Enterprises, a leading media company in the US, seeks a talented Application Developer to join our corporate IT team, based in Davenport, Iowa. This position will support our system needs by designing, programming, documenting, testing and supporting custom software. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, with diverse skills and the ability to learn a new business and procedures quickly. He/she should be a strong team player and able to provide a solid sense of achievement, responsibility and willingness to take us to the next level.

Applicants must be technically skilled/experienced:

  • Exceptional coding and design proficiency in .NET with VB / C#

  • Excellent web development skills (with WinForms included)

  • Web technologies

  • Typescript / JavaScript / JSON

  • React / Angular, etc.

  • NET / Core

  • Web APIs

  • Microsoft SQL Server / T-SQL

  • Microsoft Reporting Services

  • Both client and web application support

  • Agile software principles

  • Working with user requirements and QA to test solutions

Additional experiences that would be a plus:

  • Application / server architectures

  • Unit testing

  • SQL Server 2014 and greater

  • Team Foundation Server & TFS Builds

  • Visual Basic 6.0

  • Front-end build tools (Grunt, Gulp, etc.)

  • Package managers (NPM, NuGet)

The perfect candidate will possess:

  • A combination of Bachelor’s degree in an IT discipline and 3+ years of experience OR 5+ years of experience

  • A passion for developing great software

  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently with a strong focus on achieving tasks

  • Desire to collaborate with members of a unified team on creative design and solutions, and willingness to listen to opinions of others

  • Excellent communication, planning, organizational and time-management skills

  • Appreciation of the value of code maintainability and software quality

  • Acceptance that working on other people's code and vice versa is required

  • Acceptance of practices that support audit requirements

  • Self-motivation and able to multi-task, while staying focused on top priorities
