Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant is primarily responsible for assisting with the smooth operations of the accounting department including timely completing tasks and reports to produce management reports.The Accountant is responsible to organize and analyze inventory, accounts receivables, payables, and financial information necessary for the cost of goods sold, employee payroll systems, invoicing, and assisting the controller in preparing company financial reports. The Accountant will ensure that sound accounting principles are being applied to all financial transactions and documents. This position will also gain a working knowledge of all daily office functions and duties and act as backup support for these functions as necessary. As the Accountant, you will report problems and give suggestions to the Controller to help attain the goal of ensuring an efficient, accurate, knowledgeable, and customer-friendly office environment.Major Areas of Responsibility and FunctionsInventory control and counts, analyzing and assisting production team with any variances or issues.Sales and use tax filings and related tasks.Financial statement entries and statement preparation.Monitoring of daily AR and AP staff assuring timely processing of AP invoices, billing, and cash receipts, collection calls, collection of sales/use tax exemption certificates, coordinating with the controller before shifting dutiesAssist with daily timecard review/processing with detailed review of staff input, identifying problem trends.Weekly payroll processing including timely preparation of reports, posting entries, benefit uploads, filing quarterly/annual returns, and other related tasks including surveys and census.Backup of AR and AP office functions including billing, timecards, inventory adjustments, and covering for/assisting staff as needed.Assist with preparation of tax work papers.Assist with preparation of year-end review work papers for outside accountants.Assist with preparation of tax work papers.Act as backup for other members of the accounting team when needed.Other projects as assigned.Position Qualifications and Skill RequirementsThree to five years of experience in accounting department required, preferably in a manufacturing environment.Associate Degree in Accounting or related area preferred.Experience with SAP or similar ERP required.Proficient in Excel, including the use of PivotTables.Have strong written and verbal communication skills.Have strong analytical and organizational skills. High attention to detail required.Hours: This is a full-time position: 42-45 hrs./wk. Workflow will vary throughout the week, month and year.
