Network Engineer II

job summary:

  • Design, develop, and execute test plans for networking features, equipment, and systems.

  • Contribute to the design of new networking systems.

  • Working with and/or developing test automation tools. Certify software releases for general use.

  • Working with development teams to develop software and hardware systems.

  • Working with development teams to develop software and hardware systems.

qualifications:

A strong understanding of networking systems including TCP/IP and Ethernet.

skills: Requirements:

  • Experience working with and testing multiple L2 and L3 networking protocols. Knowledge and experience with standard protocols such as LACP, STP, RSTP, VRRP, UDLD, 802.1x, etc.

  • Experience testing and releasing networking products.

  • A strong understanding of networking systems including TCP/IP and Ethernet.

  • Experience in supporting, implementing and/or designing networks is a plus.

  • Linux is a plus. Provide onsite support, resolve escalations and provide technical leadership and guidance during deployment activities.

  • Be available to assist the Transport and NetDeploy teams for time sensitive projects.

  • Own network documentation, updating and maintaining network drawings and plans for the local site.

  • Turnup and commissioning of new routers and metro DWDM spans.

  • Test and turnup of circuits. QA of all equipment and fibers by HWOps and TVC installation techs for NetDeploy projects.

  • Onsite troubleshooting of equipment and circuits

  • Assist with equipment decom prep.

  • Perform equipment and path file audits in conjunction with HWOps

  • CCNR Power -CCNR NGF Blocks -CCNR Racks and Devices

  • Create Deployment Packages Submit BOMs for routers, fiber, etc...

  • Work with DCOps to energize equipment Execute PCRs (onsite presence) with HWOps or Installation TVCs Router forklifts Circuit migrations
