Purpose of Job
The Director Environmental Services manages the hospital operation of environmental services by managing the cleaning and linen services to ensure a clean environment and an appropriate linen supply is available for all patients, visitors, guests, and staff.
High school diploma, General Educational Development (GED) or equivalent required.
Bachelor's Degree preferred, preferably in Management, Business Administration, or Healthcare.
2 to 4 years management experience required, preferably in Environmental Services, Healthcare or related field.
Valid and current driver's license required.
Knowledge of housekeeping cleaning practices required.
Skilled in planning, delegation, time-management, and problem-solving required.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook, required.
Basic math skills required.
Strong verbal communication skills for positive interaction with staff and customers required.
Excellent customer service skills required.
Able to read, write, and comprehend various written reports and documents required.

Essential Job Functions
Oversees the hospital operation of environmental services by managing the cleaning and linen services to ensure a clean environment and an appropriate linen supply is available for all patients, visitors, guests, and staff.
Performs management duties, such as hiring, training, coaching, counseling, corrective action, terminations, and evaluations, to ensure competent staff within the Environmental Services department.
Manages direct reports by mentoring, coaching, training, supporting, and establishing objectives to promote success and growth and to contribute to Health System and division goals.
Monitors and reviews employee productivity and performance, staff development, and program implementation for customer satisfaction, efficiency, effectiveness, work priorities, and compliance with laws, rules, regulations, and standards.
Prepares and maintains work schedules for assigned staff to ensure duties are covered on a daily basis.
Ensures overtime is used appropriately.
Adjusts staffing appropriately to get necessary work completed on shift.
Documents payroll, time and attendance variances accurately by running reports and manually entering data to ensure correct payroll is completed by established weekly deadlines.
Develops and maintains the departmental operating budget by implementing action plans to control spending and utilization of approved purchasing practices to ensure fiscal viability of the Health System.
Conducts orientation training and in-service training to explain policies, work procedures, and to demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment to ensure compliance with departmental procedures.
Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures by analyzing and evaluating quality inspections to ensure a clean and sanitary environment.
Attends internal and external meetings to ensure oversight and compliance regarding environmental services issues within the Health System.
