Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), under the direction of a Licensed Practitioner, Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides basic nursing care and assists with activities of daily living to a designated group of healthcare consumers. Provides services which encompass the spiritual, physiological, social, and psychological aspects of care of the sick, prevention of disease, or conservation of health. The position contributes to the mission and core values of CHI Health.

Essential Duties:

  1. Under the direction and supervision of the Licensed Practitioner, RN or LPN, participates in the nursing process which includes: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate. The nursing process is an ongoing process that can end at any stage.

  2. Assessment - Contributes to the assessment of the health status of the healthcare consumer.

  3. Plan – Contributes to the plan of care through observation, data collection and communication of findings to the appropriate member of the multidisciplinary team.

  4. Implement – Provides basic patient care activities based on the plan of care and as delegated.

  5. Evaluate – Contributes to the evaluation of the healthcare consumer by observing responses to interventions and communicating findings to the appropriate member of the multidisciplinary team.

  6. Documents cares provided in the healthcare consumer’s record.

  7. Demonstrates personal and professional responsibility for ongoing development, practice, and education. Maintains a safe work environment.Fosters a collaborative environment in support of the nursing profession.



Required active certification as a Nursing Assistant on the Nebraska and/or Iowa Nurse Aide Registry depending on state worked. BLS Required upon hire, refer to the license, certified and registered employee policy for acceptable credentialing bodies.


Knowledge of current Certified Nursing Assistant scope of practice, critical thinking skills, professional verbal and written communication skills, technical/computer skills, attention to detail, customer service skills, adaptability, maintain confidentiality.
