Overview

MercyOne Central Iowa operates four not-for-profit, Catholic medical centers in Des Moines, West Des Moines, Newton and Centerville and two specialty hospitals – MercyOne Children’s Hospital in Des Moines and MercyOne Rehabilitation Hospital in Clive (965 beds total) – along with more than 20 additional facilities that house more than 50 primary care, pediatric, internal medicine and specialty clinics. Responsibilities

GENERAL SUMMARY :

As an integral member of the MercyOne Medical Group, the Medical Group Data Analyst will complete valuable reporting and clinical operational support, which is vital to helping to achieve strategic objectives. This individual will be required to maintain a working knowledge of the MercyOne Medical Group business and clinical operations, as well as key data systems such as the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and financial systems. The Medical Group Data Analyst will also need to utilize Tableau and spreadsheets, and will be required to develop additional technical skills as required. This role will report to the MercyOne Population Health Services Organization (PHSO) Division Director of Analytics, but will also be responsible for completing projects requested by the MercyOne Medical Group President, as well as other medical group leaders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Maintains a working knowledge of key data systems (e.g. EMRs, billing systems etc.), and is able to pull data and create reports as requested by medical group leaders.

  • Utilizes Tableau to create provider scorecards and other key deliverables.

  • Builds an expert knowledge of the Medical Group in order to support strategies through data support and reporting.

  • Produces professional reports and presentation materials for the MercyOne Medical Group President and other leaders.

  • Completes analytics on a variety of datasets to provide insights that answer important strategic questions for MercyOne.

  • Collaborates with other analysts and medical group team members to support professional growth and collaboration.

  • Maintains positive communication between the department, the organization, and external public.

  • Participates in professional development activities to enhance knowledge of healthcare market trends and analytics.

  • Maintains confidentiality of information obtained from database and hospital sources, and abides by organizational compliance guidelines.

Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with the following majors preferred; Health Information Management, Statistics, Mathematics, or Analytics.

  • Two years health care and data analytics experience, required.

  • Excellent reporting experience: word processing, spreadsheet, and Tableau, required.

  • Experience with health care data such as Electronic Medical Records, health care billing and other clinical data, required.
