Responsibilities

MercyOne Sleep Center is looking for a HIM Clerk to join their team. The HIM Clerk is responsible for the organization and maintenance of medical records.

What You'll Do:

  • Maintains an organized system for the progression of the Sleep Center medical record and the super bill through the chart process (i.e. retrieving, transporting, locating, copying, and accurately filing the patient’s chart).

  • Follows a prescribed clinic protocol for the transferring of medical records.

  • Responds to medical record inquiries from physicians, management, patient and/or staff.

  • Participates in staff development activities and orientation as requested.

  • Performs wide range of duties, which may include maintaining physician logs, opening/sorting and routing incoming mail, maintaining physician files.

  • Acts as patient advocate, responding to and working to resolve patient complaints/requests.

  • Responsible for equipment maintenance, identifying and communicating problems, coordinating repairs.

  • Miscellaneous office duties (i.e., greeting patients, answering phones, scheduling patients, verifying authorizations).

  • Participates in Performance Improvement activities as appropriate.

  • Maintains inventory of supplies.

Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :

  • High school diploma or GED required.
