International Paper Transportation Specialist I in CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa

Responsible for Transportation and Finished Goods Warehouse coordination and training. Supports and exemplifies the vision and principles of the Cedar River Mill.
The key accountabilities listed below are not to be considered all-inclusive; a team member may be required to perform additional tasks, as directed, and based on changing business needs of the company.
Assist Finance Department and Fiber Supply through tracking and verification of inbound fiber deliveries.
Manage and act as on-site contractor coordinator for spotting, shuttling service, and scale process, including on the ground monitoring.
Perform onsite carrier / spotting service incident investigations and develop and implement appropriate corrective actions.
Process owner of onsite yard management system.
Provides technical and administrative support for transportation/warehouse projects and improvements.
Provides customer service regarding product deliveries using Hot Shipment system and PPR.
Provides mill support using product tracking and quality systems to address issues and create process improvements.
Support various administrative tasks including maintain Forms, Documents, and Lockout databases.
Instrumental in leading and assisting with PIT safety team, PIT training, dock safety, roll loading processes, and training new methods and procedures .
Provide coaching and guidance to process team members and contractors through daily interactions.
Utilizes Microsoft Office skills to provide in depth data analysis and provide continuous process improvement efforts.
Coaches safety to others and leads by example.
Develops, maintains, and uses reliable methods for all processes and their improvements.
Assists other team members in the mill as necessary to minimize downtime and maintain quality.
Fullfill area specific 5S expectations(5 Minute 5S Checklists Replenishment of tools and supplies, 5S Audits,etc)
Develops and supports cross-functional process skills including quality, logistics, production, and lab.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to wear all required safety equipment.
Noise levels in excess of 90 dB.
Heat in excess of 100°F occasionally.
Required to walk and stand for long durations.
Work in adverse weather conditions.
Working environment is 24/7—ability to be on-call as need and/or required
Occassionally lifting: Up to 50 pounds; i.e. signs, boxes, tools, cones, etc.
BS Degree in Logistics or equivalent experience
Involved customer service experience such as direct interaction with customers and carrier.
Use of positive communication skills to work through issues (i.e. negotiation skills, positive conflict resolution skills, problem solving).
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize workload
Good organizational and planning skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Must be self-directed in daily work.
2-3 years experience in transportation or logistical functions.
Experience in a team-based, customer and quality-focused organization.
Knowledge of manufacturing safety practices with a good safety record.
Advanced SAP, Production Planning, warehouse management experience.
Shipping, Warehouse and Operations Knowledge
Knowledge of DOT and AAR standards.
Experience working with truck / rail transportation carriers.
Experience working with railcars / trailers.
Experience in High Performance Work Systems environment.
Yard, Scale Management process and software experience.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to grow with the operation as duties expand or change.
