Collins Aerospace Avionics Concepts, Practices, and Tools (CPT) organization has an opportunity for a Staff Software Engineer with a passion for problem solving and satisfying customer needs in the development of software solutions for internal Engineering customers. Two of these exciting development opportunities include Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) and Automated Software Release (ASR).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead small to moderately sized software tool development projects

  • Coordinate meetings designed to solicit input and feedback from engineering communities

  • Contribute to software engineering requirements capture, analysis, and creation for well-defined software designs

  • Present plans/status updates to leadership for assigned projects

  • Mentor less experienced Engineers in proper software design, code, integration, testing, and documentation

  • Design, code, integrate, regression test, test, and document software

  • Perform in cross-functional team efforts in integration, verification and validation for products

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 7 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

  • Experience developing software with OO languages such as Java, C#, C++

  • Experience with multi-threaded programming and practices

  • Ability to adapt to change

Candidates should also be able to:

  • Demonstrate their experience working with DevSecOps processes or with DevOps processes and have a desire to learn how to introduce security aspects associated with DevSecOps

  • Demonstrate their experience working with Agile teams

  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Work independently or within a team

  • A working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems

  • Enjoy problem-solving and committed to delivering quality software

  • Be eager to learn and improve and have a positive attitude
