Position overview Provides technical support to Operations in the form of enabling and improving the flow of manufacturing utilizing the disciplines of industrial and mechanical engineering. Assignments range from straightforward and reactionary in nature to complex and strategic. Uses independent judgment to make decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities the majority of the time under general supervision.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Estimates project costs and schedules and participates in preparation of proposals and presentations.

  • Establish new approaches and techniques to achieve continuous improvement in all engineering economic disciplines.

  • Exhibits a growing knowledge of industry-wide engineering economic practices (CAIV, target costing, etc.).

  • Responsible for technical problem definition and solution in manufacturing environment.

  • Responsible to act as liaison with design engineering on incorporating changes to the designs which improve manufacturability.

  • Develop tools that enable manufacturing, aid process improvement or address safety concerns.

  • Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices and standards. Full knowledge of industry practices.

  • Leads cross-functional studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control through the application of Lean principles.

  • Determines the most efficient sequence of operations and work flow, and establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel.

  • Prepares cost estimates for proposed projects and evaluates cost factors.

  • Plans and designs facilities and layout for manufacturing processes and equipment, taking into account economic factors, process flow, operator efficiency and comfort.

  • Develops solutions to a variety of IE problems of moderate scope and complexity. Refers to policies and practices for guidance.

  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

  • Reviews product designs for producibility, providing technical input to correct design deficiencies in producibility.

  • Responsible for developing new assembly processes and making major improvements to existing processes. Includes analyzing and selecting large assembly machines.

  • Conduct research studies on new processes, methods and equipment, and make recommendations for acquisitions.

  • Performs assignments requiring the use and application of moderate to advanced engineering economics principles and techniques.

  • Analyzes and understands systems requirements and design in terms of cost impacts and attributes.

  • Responsible for validating cost requirements/targets against pertinent business plan(s) and programmatic expectations.

  • Perform or direct others in the performance of sophisticated economic analysis, and the proactive achievement of economic goals for complex systems and products under development. Individual job duties may vary

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 7 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
