The Business Analyst II is a conduit through which information flows between the business and Technology. As such, the Business Analyst II needs to maintain relationships to numerous organizations to ensure completeness and accuracy of information gathered and shared. As a member of the scrum team, the Business Analyst II must work effectively with scrum master, developers, QA personnel, and Business SMEs.

This role has the autonomy to manage your own diary, initiate discussions and set-up workshops and meeting with anyone in the business needed to clarify requirements. Initial requirements prioritization is also the sole responsibility of the Business Analyst II.

Job Summary / Purpose:

  • Elicitation - Discovering the underlying business need to be addressed and information related to the Initiative / project requirements

  • Analyzing Requirements – Organizing, specifying and modeling the requirements to ensure they are complete and unambiguous and deliver the business need.

  • Specifying Requirements - Documenting the requirements in a format that can be shared with Stakeholders / Designers / Developers / Quality Assurance and Business Testing in a format that both easy to follow and understand.

  • Validating and Verifying Requirements – Ensuring the requirements map to the real business need, are approved by all relevant stakeholders, and meet essential quality standards.

  • Identifying test cases – Ensuring all requirements have an acceptance criteria.

  • Mentors more junior level Business Analysts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work in conjunction with demand management and business architects to ensure the business capabilities and business processes required for a program, initiative, an organization are identified, defined, documented and any open requirements or issues well understood.

  • Communicate the business requirements to all participants within the initiative and program teams using appropriate techniques and deliverables

  • Document the design / modified business processes required to implement the new capabilities within the organization

  • Identify and document gaps and areas of process improvement

  • Gathering of business requirements from multiple communities and stake holders for a program / initiative and consolidating that into documents to be utilized across the product and project lifecycle

  • Developing business process representations that can be utilized by groups within the organization to understand the organizational, operations, and systems requirements required to implement the business capabilities. This should take the form of Swim Lanes / Flow Charts / Process Maps etc.

  • Identify issues, conflicts and missing information across the integration – and work with key stakeholders to facilitate a resolutions

  • Document business use cases.

Qualifications

Education

Required

  • High School or better

Preferred

  • Bachelors or better in Business Administration

  • Bachelors or better in Information Technology

Experience

Required

  • 2 years: Experience of documenting business requirements

  • Proficient with technology and MS Office Suite including Visio

Preferred

  • Proficient with SharePoint and Jira

  • 5 years: Business Experience
