Trinity Health School Nurse - RN (Cedar Fall High School ) Full-Time in Cedar Falls, Iowa

Description:

Facilitates and strengthens the educational process by improving and protecting the health status of children and by identifying and assisting in the removal or modification of health-related barriers to the learning process for the individual child. Adheres to MercyOne Healthcare’s performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.

What you will Do:

  • Promotes and protects the optimal health status of children by providing health assessments and develops and implements health plans

  • Delegation of duties per Iowa Board of nursing delegation model with health assistants- Functional supervision of health assistants through competency oversight

  • Conducts individual and group educational encounters

  • Maintains compliance with applicable state and federal policies, laws and regulations and promotion of nursing best practices

  • Coordinates and oversees the provision all health services

  • Administers medication and treatments as indicated, conducts client interviews, assessments and screenings, administers immunizations.

  • Maintains, evaluates, and interprets cumulative health data to accommodate health needs of the students.

  • Develops procedures and provides for crisis intervention for acute illness, injury and emotional disturbances.

  • Promotes and assists in the control of commuicable diseases through preventative immunization programs, early detection, and reporting of contagious diseases.

  • Assists with the health education of the students and staff at designated schools. Provides leadership and/or support for wellness programs.

  • Coordinates school and community health activities and serves as a liaison between MercyOne, school, and community.

*Hours/Schedule: *

64 hours Biweekly (.8 FTE)

*Minimum Qualifications: *    

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

  • 1 year nursing experience in a school setting is preferred

  • Current Iowa RN license; BLS; Mandatory Reporter; Valid IA driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
