Cedar Falls Utilities Energy Services Specialist in Cedar Falls, Iowa
This is your opportunity to work for a local employer of choice. CFU is currently recruiting for a full-time Energy Services Specialist to join our Energy Services team. This position performs on-site inspections of residential and commercial construction projects and works with the construction design team to ensure compliance with energy conservation codes. This position is also serves a technical resource for customers and contractors who are interested in evaluating energy efficiency options. The preferred candidate would have technical education and/or experience related to building construction and have ICC Certification, BPI Certification, HERS Rater credentials, or other building science credentials.

This position works under general supervision of the Energy Services Manager and has some independent discretion while performing duties in the field. Compensation & Benefits
Starting wage is based upon individual qualifications.
Annual salary range $61,880(min) - $70,720(midpoint) - $84,864(max).
Full-time, exempt position.
Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm.
Position requires valid drivers license and must meet driver insurability standards.

Performs on-site inspections of residential and commercial new construction projects. Determines compliance with federal and state laws or adherence to approved specifications. Examples include 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) or ASHRAE 90.1. Corresponds with design team (builders, contractors, architects, MEP, etc). Reviews HVAC system sizing and design for code compliance.
Uses building science principles and department resources to evaluate energy efficiency options and make recommendations.
Serves as a technical resource for customers and contractors (residential and commercial).
Advises customers on best practices in-person, over the phone or other correspeondence.
Provides technical support and completes tasks in absence of Energy Services staff, excluding the manager.
Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that promotes positive relations with those contacted in the course of work.
Graduation from an accredited high school, along with one year of technical education and/or certification related to building construction and energy/environmental.
1-2 Years of work experience related to building construction or HVAC systems.
Licenses / Certifications:
Required to possess and maintain a valid Iowa driver's license and meet CFU insurability requirements.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess ICC Inspector Certification, BPI Certification, HERS Rater credentials, or other building science credentials.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Building and Construction - Knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures.
Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes assessing customer needs, meeting quality standards for service, and evaluating customer satisfaction.
Ability to analyze energy and construction information, utilize computer software in the performance of calculations, including REScheck and COMcheck.
Ability to work independently, communicate effectively orally and in writing in the preparation of reports and customer communications.
Physical Tasks and Environmental Conditions:
The physical demands described here are characteristic of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The employee would have a frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit and lift objects (up to 75 lbs), climb ladders, and perform similar actions during the course of the day.
