Henkel Construction Company Project Estimator/Manager in Ames, Iowa
Responsible for the completing complete estimates for assigned projects of small to large complexity either directly or through supervisory personnel.
Prepare estimate by calculating complete quantity survey of the scope of work. This is accomplished either manually or by using the Timberline estimating software applications (including use of the digitizer). This activity includes reviewing the contract bidding documents (plans, specifications, and addenda).
Coordinate the total estimating effort relevant to particular bid/project assigned. This includes notification by written or verbal communication to vendors and subcontractors prior to bid day, receiving verbal and written bids, making necessary callbacks to vendors, and/or delivering bids (some travel may be required).
Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend prebid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and workhour figures.
Interface with owner, architect/engineer, and subcontractors/vendors to provide necessary information for a complete, informed estimate.
Assist supervisor on bid day.
Interface with project managers, purchasing agents, other estimators, field superintendents and foreman as needed.
Maintain and organize current individual estimate files.
Auxiliary duties include updating, maintaining and organizing the Timberline estimating software program, including the digitizer; and files for the digital camera.
May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
