Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine (VDPAM) department at Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine is accepting applications for a post-DVM, Postdoctoral Research Associate. This position is located in Ames, Iowa.
The successful applicant will be responsible for conducting independent field research in commercial swine production sites with a focus on infectious disease surveillance. Funding for the project comes through a cooperative agreement with the USDA.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to concurrently pursue a graduate degree, participate in journal clubs, and present research findings at regional and national professional conferences.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
• DVM or equivalent degree.
• Demonstrated focus on swine veterinary medicine.
• 1-year work experience in commercial swine production.
• 1 year of additional education or training in swine production medicine.
Department/Program & College Description:
VDPAM supports the continual improvement of food animal agriculture and food supply veterinary medicine to benefit Iowa and the world. The department is made up of highly trained specialists who span a wide range of veterinary disciplines and species interests. Faculty have expertise in diagnostics, medicine, surgery, pathology, microbiology, epidemiology, public health, and production medicine.
