Alliant Energy Construction Coordinator (May be filled as a Senior) in Ames, Iowa
Manages crews and contractors who perform construction activities. Works with limited supervision within established policies, procedures and standards. Communicates company policies, programs, standards and procedures. Ensures adherence to work and project schedules.
Monitors quality of work performed. Responsible for adherence to construction related standards, during the construction process, for both contract and company crews. Assists quality group review of project at completion of construction as needed.
Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety. This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe work behaviors, which may lead to accidents. Also assists in the investigation of accidents.
Responsible for smooth coordination among processes by working with Project and Construction managers, contractors and customers. Coordinates equipment use and materials for the job site. Provides drawings and specifications to Contractors and crews as required. Removes barriers for crews in the performance of work activities. May provide direction to employees and contract crews assigned to the associated construction projects.
Understands and applies multiple labor contracts. Understands and applies contractor general agreements and pricing.
Coordinates material returns and project closure activities. Ensures "as constructed" drawings are appropriately documented and returned to engineering.
Interacts with customers on work performed by construction crew.
May require travel and overnight stay as workload dictates.
All other duties as assigned.

Be responsible for job site construction coordination including safety, material coordination (material staging and delivery on the job site) and construction activities
Be responsible for insuring quality of construction and correct charging of materials, labor and equipment.

This position requires a two year degree from an accredited college or university, and three years of related experience.
In absence of a degree five years of related experience is required.
Sr. Coordinator Level:
This position requires a two year degree from an accredited college or university, and six years of related experience.
In absence of a degree eight years of related experience is required.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must be willing to travel.
Travel can include occasional overnight stays.
- This position will strongly support our electric side of the business. Experience working in the electric industry is strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Effective leadership skills.
Effective computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Knowledge of project management methods.
Working knowledge of electric, gas and construction standards, design standards, work methods, equipment, electric equipment maintenance and materials. Demonstrated ability to read and understand utility maps, plan and profiles and drawings. Ability to interpret right of way easements and agency permits.
Knowledge of applicable safety rules and applicable electrical codes or DOT regulations and governmental agency regulations.
Ability to apply union contracts.
Knowledge of internal accounting policies. Understanding of agreements with contractors doing construction work.
Knowledge of environmental regulations, policies and procedures.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, written and communications skills.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse work group.
