Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Chemistry in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University seeks candidates for a tenure-track position in organic or analytical chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The Assistant Professor will be expected to teach chemistry courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; advise graduate and undergraduate students; generate a scholarly publication record; participate in technical committees and outreach activities; and engage in interdisciplinary research and collaboration. The chemistry department has a thriving graduate program that is well funded through external grants and numerous teaching assistant positions.

Required Education and Experience

PhD in Chemistry or closely related discipline.

Demonstrated excellence in research in organic or analytical chemistry, with clear potential for an independent and collaborative research career.

Demonstrated ability or potential to teach chemistry courses of all enrollment sizes.

Potential for research area to strengthen the department’s portfolio, either through complementarity or building on existing strengths.
