Together, we can help people build stronger communities — we're just getting started.Facebook is seeking an entry-level intern who is currently enrolled or recently completed a technical undergraduate program and looking to apply their technical skills in a fast-paced and complex environment for a duration of 12 weeks. A working knowledge of Linux, a basic understanding of server hardware, and the desire to participate in projects at a large-scale data center is central to this role. This position will work to resolve and diagnose server issues at scale, escalate issues, and work with remote engineering teams. Communication skills are a requirement for this role. This person should enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where adaptability and flexibility will be key to their success.

Required Skills:

  1. Work within Facebook's ticketing system in support of the health of Facebook's server fleet

  2. First point of contact for break fix technicians

  3. Accountable for assisting with projects (new capacity as well as retrofits) and repairs throughout the data center

  4. Triage and initial analysis to debug hardware, and Linux OS related issues

  5. Demonstrate personal leadership Identifying and helping to create documentation for the global data center knowledge base

  6. Assist with process improvements and best practices in data center operations

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience/certification

  2. Knowledge of Linux and server hardware repairs

  3. Experience modifying and developing in Python, SQL, and/or shell scripting

  4. Working conceptual knowledge of technologies such as HTTP, DNS, RAID, and DHCP

  5. Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

  1. Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
