The Carver College of Medicine at The University of Iowa seeks candidates for the position of Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Internal Medicine. The Director is the spokesperson for the faculty of the Division. As the College of Medicine is the major academic medical center in the state of Iowa, the Director serves as a key leader in interactions with epidemiologists throughout the state. Responsibilities include faculty evaluation, recruitment and appointments; educational, clinical and research programs; fiscal planning and management; and short term and long term strategic planning. This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored employment authorization, sponsorship for H1B status.

Education Requirement:

MD or MD/PhD

Required Qualifications:

A record consistent with appointment as a tenured associate or full professor of internal medicine.

*An outstanding record of accomplishments in teaching, research, and service.

*An exceptional program in clinical or laboratory-based research.

*Must have the demonstrated capacity to foster an environment in which excellence in teaching, research, and scholarship can flourish.

*Must have experience and interest in developing and leading clinical programs.

*A demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse academic environment is required.

*The successful candidates will have a national stature in academic internal medicine.

*Must have excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy interactions with students, staff and faculty.

*Must have a record of innovative and effective administrative experience.

*Must be eligible for licensure in Iowa.

Certifications:

Board certification in infectious disease.
