Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The School of Education in the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State University invites applications for one faculty position in Community College Leadership and Higher Education at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (with tenure). Iowa State University, the College of Human Sciences, and the School of Education are committed to continuing their national role in the area's community college leadership. We seek a colleague who will contribute to our dynamic and collaborative community college leadership program by teaching M.Ed., Ed.D., and Ph.D. courses, advising, conducting research, securing external funding, and providing service and outreach that support the ISU land-grant mission. The preferred candidate will foster research collaboration and leadership development with state agencies and community colleges in Iowa. The ideal candidate will have a record of scholarly publications and of pursuing funded research activities.

The School of Education offers a hybrid Ed.D. in Community College Leadership, an online M.Ed. in Higher Education (Community College Leadership and Higher Education Administration concentrations), a residential Ph.D. in Higher Education, and a residential M.Ed. in Student Affairs. The primary teaching and advising responsibilities will be within the hybrid Ed.D., online M.Ed., and Ph.D. programs. We are particularly interested in scholars who have a line of inquiry and/or teaching experience related to one or more of the following: (a) community college leadership and policy, (b) postsecondary access and success, (c) academic issues and cultures, or (d) the role of postsecondary education in workforce, economic, and community development. Candidates who are interested in contributing to the excellence of this academic community through their research, teaching, and outreach are encouraged to apply.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

For the rank of Assistant Professor, the successful candidate will possess an earned doctoral degree in community college leadership, higher education administration, or a closely related field by the start date and experience working in a postsecondary setting.

For the rank of Associate Professor, the successful candidate must meet university standards for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor with tenure, including excellence in scholarship that establishes the individual as a significant contributor to the field or profession, evidence of effective teaching, and evidence of institutional service.

Preferred Qualifications:

Evidence of potential to develop an active research agenda, establish a strong publication record, and secure external funding commensurate with the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (tenured) at Iowa State University.

Demonstrated successful advising and mentoring at the graduate education level.

Evidence of effective teaching and demonstrated ability in teaching distance education students related to one or more of the following: a) community college leadership and policy, b) postsecondary access and success, c) academic issues and cultures, or d) the role of postsecondary education in workforce, economic, and community development.

Demonstrated commitment to collaborate with community colleges through outreach efforts, research, or programming.
